Quarantine

Things have been going pretty good in our house. Feedings are going ten times better and the little man is slowly but surely getting on a schedule. He's been letting us sleep for about 5-6 hours straight through the night (fingers crossed).

I think one thing in absolutely certain, Jeff and I are in love with our little boy! He is the most precious little thing on this planet! He keeps changing and getting so much bigger every day.

We had a family day yesterday- it was more of a forced family day because we have all contracted pink eye. No fun! Jeff and I can handle it but oh man we feel so badly that we gave it to the little man.

Things were much better today though and Jeff and I cleaned the whole house and disinfected everything to prevent other people from getting it. My aunt and uncle came in from Missoula for a few hours which was so nice! We like company!!!!

Diapers and late night feedings and breast pumps OH MY

Aaaah motherhood.

Bear with me in these next few weeks. Trying to adjust to lack of sleep and working to make sure baby gets on a schedule and gets what he needs is taking up most of my normal computer time.

Here's a picture of baby to keep you at bay! :)

Introducing Mr. Caderyn James Windmueller

The newest edition to our family is FINALLY here.

Caderyn James Windmueller was born March 12, 2009 at 7:33 p.m.

He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and was 22 3/4 inches long.

I started labor at 2am. My water broke around 8:40 a.m. and we were at the hospital at 9:00 a.m. When I checked into the hospital I was 5 cm dilated and 70 percent effaced. I labored for an hour and a half before I got an epidural. At that time when they checked me I was still at 5 cm dilated but I was 100 percent effaced. Got the epidural (oh sweet joyus wonder of medical sciences!!) and they also started me on pitocin to get the labor cooking.

Everything after that was peachy keen. I had my mother-in-law and my aunt who are both OB nurses there and then I also had a doula (they're fabulous and I highly recommend them) there and my sweet Jeffrey.

Labor took longer than I think anyone expected and I started pushing around 3:30 P.M.

It was a long, hard labor which surprised all of us. The little guy just was having a tough time getting out! He was in an awkward position and kept getting stuck! So we had to ditch the original birth plan at the last minute and use the vacuum thingy to help get him out.

He was SO long when he came out and he had cord wrapped everywhere!!! Lots and lots of cord.

He wasn't crying which was so scary and they had to take him immediately to make sure he was okay.

He was just fine and SOOOO long he almost didn't fit in the little bed they had for him!

It took both of us awhile to recover because I tore (sorry- that's gross I know) and had to get all stitched up and he had to get all checked out and make sure his lungs were in order.

But oh man! When they put him in my arms the world stopped. He is just SO beautiful. He's nothing at all that I expected him to look like- but ten times better! He looks so much like Jeff but also like me!

He is just the most perfect little angel in the whole world and has just competely changed our lives for good!

I hope everyone else loves him as much as I do!

Little Boy's On the Way!

Welp, we've been up since about 2:00 a.m. (though Jeff hasn't actually slept yet) counting the minutes between contractions. They've started off at 25-30 minutes apart and have since digressed down to 7-15 minutes apart.
I'm in between a contraction right now- so at the moment its no pain no worries for me but there's another contraction coming on.
Hopefully, before the day is done we'll have a beautiful little boy in our arms.

Daylight Savings Can Kiss My Butt

It's only 9:30 a.m. on a Tuesday morning and I am about ready to pass out on my desk.
It could be the cold I have that's clogging up nearly every opening on my face EXCEPT for my nose or the fact that I'm just not sleeping very well in these last few days/weeks of pregnancy. But, I will make a point to say that I truly think I am dragging because I lost an hour of sleep due to the stupid Daylight Savings "jump" forward. Why throw half the country off their sleep schedule when you could just leave it the way it is!
I like being on the same time zone as my parents who are now an hour behind me. They forget and I forget and I find myself calling them at 7am on a Saturday morning when I think its really 8am there.

I'm having so much trouble with this time change right now I am seriously thinking about going home to bed! Mmmm wouldn't that be delicious!

A Curse Upon Bad Direction Writers

Putting together baby furniture should be a full time job. I've been having Jeff do most of it lately. He put together the crib and the swing and the bouncy chair and quite a few other gadgets we've gotten in preparation for our first child. I've just been cleaning and organizing things, which I know I'm good at.

Tonight, Jeff is out and very busy with work so I sat down with every intention of just watching Interview With the Vampire. We just got it on Netflix, I've never seen it but I've read the book. Well I started watching it and discovered that even though there are quite a few laughable moments because its just so corny- I still can't watch it alone. I just can't do any kind of creepy. However, to stray off topic just a bit, I will give myself some props because in the span of a week I have watched Rosemary's Baby and Underworld. That's like a scary/creepy movie record for me and now I've started a new one. Must be the pregnancy.

Back on track: so I had to turn the movie off because I just couldn't watch it. They were replaying the most recent America's Next Top Model, which actually started to bore me after the first 30 minutes of the 2 hour season premiere (I mean really, I only watch the show to see what the picture looks like at the end). So to fill some kind of a void and probably because I'm nesting just a little but, I decided to try my hand at putting together the Pack N Play we got from Jeff's parents. For those of you that haven't come to fully understand what this piece of equipment is, its the portable crib/playpen. The one we got is quite a piece of work with all the fancy bells and whistles.

Only problem: The directions are TERRIBLE. I'm actually considering writing to GRACO and berating them for their assumption that everyone in the world can just slap this piece of furniture together by looking at their crappy directions. I'm ticked!

For example: They have all of their directions numbered and then next to that they tell you what you're supposed to do.

Here are some examples:

1. Next to the number one there is just an illustration showing you how to unhook the crib from its case. Okay, easy enough.

2. They have an illustration on how to "stand" the crib up. Only problem is this illustration has both the top and bottom of the crib looking exactly the same. I'm smart though and I figured it out- the part of the crib that has wheels goes on the bottom. Ah ha (Insert note of sarcasm here).

3. They have yet another terrible illustration along with this little sidebar: DO NOT push center down yet. Then in 4. They have an illustration with the sound effect in a Batman-like bubble going "SNAP!" So I had to figure out that the crib doesn't enthusiastically "SNAP!" but rather clicks softly and if it doesn't click then you can be leaning on the crib to put the mattress pad down and fall into the crib as the sides give away. True story.

I was able to cruise through 5-17, no problem. But, then we reach 18.

This is the part where I'm supposed to create the bassinet. Its basically a large piece of mesh fabric that I'm supposed to hook to the outer area of the crib so the baby is up higher. Comes in handy with a newborn. The crib comes with about 6 different pipe things that I'm eventually supposed to hook up. However, all of the piping looks the same, and yet its not.

The directions for 18 are this: Vibrator strap and cord tunnel.

What? That's it? That's all you're giving me???This particular crib comes with its own little vibrating machine which is supposed to be very calming for babies. I hooked that up no problem, but then came the part where I'm trying to hook up these pipe things and attach this mesh hanging thing to the crib. I was absolutely dumbfounded and couldn't believe that's all they gave me. So I trial and errored it and got and and then had to stop because there is no way I can hook up the remaining pieces of equipment. I've still got to do the changing pad and the napper but looking at those directions, they get more and more vague.

So essentially I was able to make it to number 18 out of 70 and I have now given up.

I'm going to have Jeff finish it when he gets home. The above picture is the actual play pen I've been trying to put together. Go me.

Pregnancy Has Made Me A Hermit

Recently I've become addicted to the Spider Solitare game on my computer. I can master the one suit, but I can't seem to break the code for the double suit. Its driving me crazy!!! Any suggestions?

Bumpdate

Had another doctor's appointment yesterday!
The baby has dropped so I was only measuring at 37 weeks pregnant- I shrunk...ha!
I'm 2 1/2 centimeters dilated and 70 percent effaced. I've been experiencing little contractions randomly, sometimes I have a lot on one day and none the next day.
So, we shall see what this little man decides to do!

My aching hips

Well, we found out today when I woke up that the baby has officially dropped. That doesn't mean I'm in labor right now- it just means he's started the first part of his long journey. His head is moving down into the pelvic region.

For me, this means LOTS of pressure on the hips- a lot like during those first three months of pregnancy when I ached day in and day out. It also means instead of having to pee every 20 minutes I know have to pee every five minutes.
