Last night we had some friends over to celebrate a birthday.
Since I'm feeling pretty good these days, I was itching to try a new recipe.
I grabbed this because I thought it looked tasty and would go really well on a cold, winter's day.
The ingredients are few and its a crockpot dinner so I LOVE that.
Any excuse I have to use my crock pot and look like a master chef extraordinaire, I will.
So, for four people, I put in four chicken breasts.
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup (low sodium).
2 T of Italian seasoning
1/2 t of celery seed- BUT I couldn't find this anywhere so I used celery flakes. I didn't notice anything different.
1T of onion powder
1 T sugar
1/4 t pepper
1 t salt
mince 2 cloves of garlic. I love garlic.
Add that all together and based on when you are serving dinner, set the crock pot on low or high so that it cooks thoroughly. I cooked mine on low from 8:30 until 1:00 p.m. and then left it on warm until 4:00 p.m. and then put it back on low. My crock pot is a cooking beast and if I had just left it on all day until 6:00 p.m. the meal would have burnt.
When you are 30 minutes from eating, bring out a block of cream cheese and add it. Turn the crock pot on high for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally so it gets mixed.
Serve over rice or noodles.
IT WAS DELICIOUS!
It is very heavy, but very good.
I served it with bread sticks and asparagus.
For dessert I made a pizzookie. A pizza cookie and we put ice cream on it.
