6:43 A.M.

Mornings at our house are my favorite.
(Especially now that we are all fairly healed after our last round of sickness)

I am an early riser. I get up specifically to have my breakfast and coffee without any interruptions. I will usually read or quietly watch part of a movie. This is the part of my day that I feel is most important for me; it is the time when I mentally prepare for being a mother, my job, and any other tasks at hand.

Gib usually gets up first around 6:30 a.m. and Caderyn usually follows within mere minutes.

Here is a snippet from our morning at precisely 6:43 a.m.

Last night I got to watch the documentary, "Happy."
And it was about time! That thing has been on my Netflix for nearly a year!
I am so glad I watched this and I would encourage anyone interested to also take some time out of their busy schedules to watch.
This documentary basically travels around the world finding people who are happy and what makes them happy.
It was beautiful and very uplifting.

It made me stop to think about my life and the happiness that surrounds me.
In our fast lifestyles, it is too easy to dwell on the negative events that occur.
My husband isn't around.
My children are sick.
I am missing work.
Money is always tight.

But in the span of our lives, these negative moments are really only minimal.
So you have a bad day? Tomorrow is a new day and that one rough spot will not affect you for the rest of your life.

I thought about how even though our situation isn't really ideal, I am a very happy person.
On most days.

I have goals.
I have a good marriage.
I have two beautiful children.
I have wonderful family and friends.
I have an idea for how our future may pan out.

And these motivate me each and every day to be a better person and to work hard.
And because of this drive, and the motivation, and the goals, and the social support, I find that I am very happy.

I am a happy girlie.

And we are back. Kind of.
The kids are still sick. We spent the majority of our Friday at the doctor's office and about half a day on Saturday. We were desperately trying to avoid hospital admittance with Gib. It was close, but we were able to get out of it and I am happy to say we are feeling much better!

Here is a quip from my funny guy:

Me: Caderyn, don't forget to wash your hands after going potty.
Caderyn: Mommy, you don't have to tell me that, I know that. I'm almost four, I'm a grown up.

Well excuse me!

Aaaaaaaand we are sick again.
Caderyn has pneumonia- oh yes.
Gib has RSV.

It is going to be a long weekend.

I'm still going through all the videos on my phone.
I pretty much cry a little when I delete them, but my goal is to get them all online and then save them to a jump drive.

Sweet little Gibbles.
8 months already?

Hair:  Most days it is brownish-blonde. You have these adorable super long strands of hair that stick straight up off the top of your head. It reminds me of Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch cartoon and her two little strands of hair sticking up.
Eyes: Blue
Cheeks: Very kissable
Dimples: One on the left cheek
Teeth: TWO. On the bottom.
Chins: At least three.
Weight: 19
Length: 28 inches

Likes: Sucking your two fingers on your right hand. Being held and moving. Kicking your legs. Hearing your voice: screeching, screaming, laughing, singing. Blowing raspberries.: Good lawd child! You are the raspberry king! Your favorite word on repeat is "Da da da" as loud as you possibly can screech it.  Laughing. Holding toys and smashing them against something. Your big brother. Your mommy. Your daddy. Your fingers and toes. Being silly. Eating in general. Snuggling in bed with mommy. Interactive playing. Being tickled, you are very ticklish. Singing. Sitting up. Flirting. Bouncing in your bouncer.

Exhibit A: Blowing Raspberries
Dislikes: Being sick. Tummy time. Being alone. Teething. Rolling over.

Your FAVORITES: Eating. Making noises of all kinds. Mommy and Daddy. Playing with Caderyn in the morning. Being held outward and kicking your legs as fast as they will go. Tubbies. Sitting up. Toys.

Exhibit B: Noisy, noisy!
NEW: Eating most baby food. Trying to hold your bottle on your own. Sitting up on your own. Pushing the entire upper portion of your body up off the floor during tummy time. Very verbal and noisy. Hand eye coordination is fascinating to you. Temper tantrums and screaming super loud when you don't get your way.

Still working on: Rolling. You aren't really interested. But you can sit up on your own! Sleeping through the night. Mom's forgotten what it is like to sleep through the night.
You have found your little "man part" (if you know what I mean) while playing in the tub. It is currently your favorite toy...
You love it when people pay attention to you. Absolutely love it.
You are a silly goose and love goofing with your brother.
I think you will be a soccer player because you LOVE to kick your legs and pound your feet on the ground.
When Daddy is home on the weekends, you can't stop looking at him. Your changing table faces our bed and the second I put you down to change your diaper you are looking and straining your neck trying to get a glimpse of Daddy sleeping in the bed.
You have this look on your face like you just can't wait to get into everything and make messes.

Gib, we are slowly closing in on the last few months of your babyhood. It makes me so very sad. But it also makes me proud. You are growing and thriving and doing something new each and every day. We all love you and are very protective of you. I wish you could see and remember your brothers face when he sees you each morning. I wish you could remember how excited he gets when he makes you laugh.
We love you more than words can express. Keep growing my son!

The top of my head is missing!!!

I weigh in on Fridays.
Here are my stats from my last weigh in:
Lost: 0.8
Total loss: 18.8
It wasn't as large a number as I had hoped, but I'm okay with it. It is still a loss.
I had another really good heart to heart with the instructors at Weight Watchers, and, as usual, they helped to boost my spirits.
I told them I just felt like I've been in a rut and stuck between 188 lbs and 186 lbs. It has been going back and forth between these numbers for a month now.
Oh lord, now you all know my weight.
This happened with my Caderyn weight loss too. It kicked into high gear once I changed my diet.
I'm not sure what I should be changing right now. I don't do sugar,  I work out a ton and I am being so good and conscious of what I am eating and doing.
*Le sigh*
But its okay. I just need to stick with it and my hard work will pay off, right?!

I am going to try and switch up some of my meals this week. I'm going to eat more protein and greens and see if that has any effect on my weight this week.

I just want to fit into my skinny jeans DANG IT! They are hollering my name in the closet.

Strep throat and colds visited our house this weekend.
So I am behind on a lot of posts. We will start with this peek at our last couple of weeks.

Friday treat= cannolli. YUM
The only picture I took of the Dining Out we had to go to for the military last weekend. This was the band, and then I danced a lot.
Someone's two bottom teeth FINALLY popped through the gums.
Mr. Dapper Bow Tie
So happy to have teeth.
Zee luffff bike
Caderyn got in trouble at daycare for coloring all over the walls in crayon. He lost television privileges and had to write an apology note. This is what he told me to write...word for word.
Modeling a new outfit my mom got me for Christmas.
Nail decisions are serious business. I went with Shake It Til You Samba.
Just hanging out in my duckie tub. No biggie.
Woe is me.
Tired and teething
My lunch date on Friday.
If you look super close you can see his bottom teeth all shiny and new.
Some friends came to town on Friday night and I got to go out for a much needed drink and some laughs.
This dog finally got a bath.
Strep throat and cabin fever= jammies all day!
Someone found his little ding-a-ling and sure likes it. He refuses to let it go during his tubs.

Valentine's Day, oh, Valentine's Day!

Until I met my husband, I don't really remember any specific Valentine's Days. Growing up, I was a tomboy and I was just plain awkward and...not the prettiest little lady on the block. I would rather be outside playing than inside making myself up.
Exhibit A
Whoooo! Down boys!
I went to a Catholic school growing up, and, you know, they aren't all that big on romance.
One thing I do remember and something that still carries through to this day is how special my parents always made Valentine's Day for my brother and I. I remember waking up and my mom would either have made us a special little breakfast or have a little treat set out in the morning for us. Just yesterday we got a package in the mail with treats and presents for the boys and a sweet card and a Starbucks gift card for me. Thanks parental units, I love you too!

I didn't have my first boyfriend until I was a senior in high school. I was shy and more focused on sports and doing well in school. Boys just weren't my priority.
Valentine's Day always made me feel silly. I still roll my eyes at the grandeur some people go to on this.

The one Valentine's Day I truly remember with a significant other was in 2007 when Jeff and I were engaged. He drove in to town for the night (we did a long distance relationship for about a year and a half until we got married) and we got reservations at a pretty swanky restaurant in town that was offering a "Lovers Dessert Special." We ate way too much sugar, I drank a crap-ton of champagne and then tried to go home and study for a test I had the next day. I was so hung over, I'm surprised I passed that test.
So, to me, Valentine's Day really hasn't been all that much about the glitz and glamour of romance or the expectation of some overly priced present (although I do very much like getting presents). Valentine's Day, to me, is more about being with the people you love.

We have a lot of love in our lives, and, for that, I am very thankful.

So today, in honor of Valentine's Day, I am carrying on my mom's tradition. I made Caderyn a special little breakfast and gave him a present (Candyland!). I will make sure to kiss he and Gabriel 10 times more than I already do and snuggle them to my hearts content.
Here's a little bit of what Valentine's Day has look like so far:
Sweet Valentines for Caderyn's schoolmates.
My little notes and gifts for the boys.
Caderyn got a box of chocolates and Candyland.
Gabriel got a new teething toy.
Caderyn's breakfast. I thought I might make pink pancakes, but then I got unmotivated. So we did peanut butter toast with a chocolate heart and some pink sprinkles. Strawberries, too.
Gib playing with his new toy at breakfast.
My excited little love.

Nothing really new in our neck of the woods, so I'm going to thrill you all with 11 random questions and answers. All. About. Me!
1. If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?
When I was younger, I always wanted to be named Nicole. My parents also considered the name, Amy, for me until I was born. I don't know, I really like my name. I think I make a pretty good Sarah.

2. Are you a collector of anything?
Cards. I can't seem to get rid of cards people give me. I have birthday cards dating all the way back to high school still in my possession.

3. What is your first thought when you wake up?
1. Coffee 2. Breakfast 3. Pick up the house before the kids wake up.

4. Do you prefer sweet or salty foods?
I am mostly a sweet fan, but I generally indulge in the salt. I try very hard not to eat sweets and allow myself one day of the week to indulge. Usually Friday.

5. Name one thing you miss about being a kid.
Sleeping. Why oh why didn't I sleep when I had the chance? The freedom to be with friends. The innocence. The comfort of knowing everything is taken care of.

6. Are you a morning or night person?
I think I am at my finest in the mornings. I am usually up between 5/5:30 a.m. and I go to bed anywhere between 9:30/11:30 p.m.  I don't usually think about being tired, I just go.

7. List 5 items on your life’s to-do list:
A. Visit Europe--Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, France and Italy. Those are the top places I want to go.
B. Buy a house
C. Write a book
D. Live in the same state as my parents
E. See my children grow into beautiful and respectful human beings.
8. Share one thing that people may not know about you.
Ummm, I'm pretty candid on here. I think most of you already know I have a really intense fear of bears (for really no reason at all). I got attacked by a dog when I was four and still have scars on my butt where it bit me. Let's see...well, some people may not know this but I really, really love to dance. I'm not overly good at it, but I am always finding excuses to leap and shimmy around my house.

9. What is your all time favorite song, movie, and book?
Book: Gone With the Wind
Movie: Mulan
Song: "Love Me Tender" Elvis

10. Do you have any hidden talents?
I have a wicked good memory when it comes to directions and life events.

11. Are you a really clean or super messy person?
Both. On the weekends I usually let my house go.

Let me know if you followed along too!

Bathroom photo shoot what what?
I weigh in on Fridays.
Here are my stats from my last weigh in:
Lost: +1.0
Total loss: 18
Yep. I gained.
It wasn't because I didn't track what I ate or start consuming junk food. Nope. I am super strict about what I eat during the week.
I started off last week being sick. I got that weird norovirus thing that was going around. Most people might think this would help them lose weight, but my body is weird. Instead of losing weight when I'm sick, my body seems to hold on to weight.
I experience the same thing when I breastfeed. Who ARE those women who can lose the weight so fast and claim its that they are nursing. Not me. Nope.
So I was sick and my body decided it didn't want to lose the weight. C'est la vie.
Because I was sick, I was also only able to work out twice that week.
So that probably didn't help either.
But you know what, it's okay. It is just one pound.
This week is a new week.
Anything can happen.

I've been trying to make more space on my phone.
If there ever was a title of a "Phone Picture Hoarder," it would be me. I had so much trouble letting some of the pictures and videos leave my phone forever.
It took a lot of mental convincing that I would just put them up on my blog so the memory would never be lost.
Sweet moves
Brand new Gabriel.
Oh my heart!
