What I've Recently Read:
You know, I heard from a lot of people that they didn't like this book. I really liked it. I think the way J.K. Rowling writes is extremely conversational and just very well done. It definitely was NOT Harry Potter, but it was a very interesting story.
Loved this. Can't wait to read the next one. Again, very easy to read. A fast read.
A historical story based on U.S. Ambassador to Germany William Dodd right when Hitler came to power and the craziness was beginning. So well written and interesting. You just felt terrible for Dodd and how he was ganged up on by everyone. I disliked his daughter, she was a bit of a harlot, but her accounts and thoughts on what was happening were insightful and thought provoking. She started off admiring the Nazis for their passion, but as everything started to spiral, she ends up being completely disgusted.
A very good read.
This was my book club book. Apparently this is a detective series, but I had never heard of this until now. Wow! This book was gorgeous. In quick summary, there is a murder at a monastery and two detectives are sent there to figure out who and why.
Love this one. This was my choice for book club.
You know, I got this book because it was ranted and raved about by critics. Mantel's style of writing is definitely different than anything I'd read. It was very fluid and intellectual and told from Thomas Cromwell's point of view. However, this story took me forever to get through. It wasn't that I didn't like it, I did, it just took forever to get interesting.
What's On Deck To Read:
Happy reading my friends! This summer I'm going to try and read between 20 and 30 books. How many are you going to read? Any suggestions for me?
